Rougher end mills remove lots of material with every pass. The Rougher feature limits the size of the chips preventing the bit from getting bogged down. These end mills are not meant to be used on the finishing pass of the project.

This 2 flute solid carbide compression cut rougher end mill has a 3/8" cutting diameter with a cutting length of 1-1/8". The shank diameter is 3/8" and the overall length is 3-1/2".

I only did a couple quick passes with this bit to see how it worked.
-Great-
That is how it worked.
I will be doing some delicate routing on guitar necks and bodies so I can either fill the slot with colored epoxy, or thin wood pieces.
The practice grooves turned out well. I did some in white pine, walnut, and ebony. It worked on all woods.
Go slow as it is a skinny bit!

great bit.... first, 1/2" shank absorbs heat and adds rigidity
it also allows faster cut speeds vs. 1/4" shank, so even for 1/8" groove, bigger shank always better IMO....
sides of cuts clean, top of cut clean, no over heating, great bit, great price, 4.5 stars, recommended!
