Top bearing slot cutting router bits are specifically designed for on-site deck board slotting to be used in conjunction with hidden deck board fasteners. The bearing's position allows for easy slotting on deck boards that are already positioned on the deck beams. There is no protrusion at the end of the bit that will interfere with any underlying wood.

This top bearing slot cutter router bit routes a 1/4" x 1/4" slot. The overall diameter is 1-1/4" and 1/2" shank.

Takes a bit of effort to get setup perfectly. However the result is worth it.

If using for cutting biscuit slots with a handheld router, you'll probably want a wide sub base, as the large diameter bit means the router motor is entirely overhanging the work piece when starting the cut. You will need to ensure the bit isn't fully seated in the collet if you're slotting the center of the edge of a 3/4" it thicker board, or the collet nut may strike your wood at full depth of cut (it's larger diameter than the bearing).

Note that no. Those are wide than the diameter of this bit, so you'll need to route a longer slot.
